Amazon Product Review: Optimum Nutrition Creatine Monohydrate
Amazon Rating: 4.3/5 Stars
Current Price: $15.93 for 600 grams (Price is dependent size.)
Overview:
Creatine is one of the most talked about supplements on the market in regards to its safety and effectiveness. Without getting into all the details, creatine is very safe and very effective. As for this specific creatine — Optimum Nutrition Creatine Monohydrate — it happens to be one of the best on the market.
Flavors:
There are some flavored creatine products on the market but this isn’t one of them. Optimum Nutrition Creatine Monohydrate comes unflavored and because of this you’ll likely want to mix it with something that has some actual flavor. Creatine can really go with anything from sports drinks to milk to water (not recommended) so it is entirely up to you what you want to mix it with.
Mix-ability:
Probably the lone downside to creatine is that it just doesn’t mix well. This is not unique to this specific brand of creatine but rather this tends to be the case across all brands. Considering creatine is unflavored and you’ll likely want to mix it with something other than water as mentioned above, you really wont notice this too much. It may be a bit coarse or salty feeling when you get to the tail end of the drink but other than that the experience of getting it down isn’t too bad.
Sizing/Pricing:
Optimum Nutrition Creatine Monohydrate comes in 150 grams, 300 grams, 600 grams, 1,200 grams and 4.41lbs. sizes. As is the case with essentially every supplement, the more you buy the less you pay per serving. To put in perspective how cheap this creatine is, if you bought the 4.41 pound tub of this brand, you’d be paying about 10 cents per day (per serving).
Our Thoughts:
Is creatine absolutely necessary? Absolutely not. Will you likely see a benefit making it worth taking? Absolutely.
So, why this specific creatine?
Creatine Monohydrate is creatine in its purest form. It is the most studied type of creatine and appears to be the most effective. There is no need to pay for expensive “new and improved” creatine types just to feed into the supplement industry’s marketing tactics.
And why this specific brand?
Optimum Nutrition is one of the most well-known and reputable brands in the supplement industry. Their supplements are always high quality and this product is no exception. This in conjunction with their price point on Creatine Monohydrate (which is one of the best on the market) make this a no-brainer must-buy!
